Weather at LTOP

We believe there is no such thing as bad weather…

…only bad clothing. When it rains, we cover our belongings to keep them as dry as possible. Children should be wearing warm and waterproof clothing. Playing in the rain brings a new sensory element that everyone has so much fun in! When it gets really hot, we have as much water play as possible. We go on shorter nature walks and stay in the shade as much as possible. Every year, we ask our families if they would rather have their children on a “rain day” trip where we would go to an indoor facility such as a museum or art studio. There are days we might need to cancel school completely for lightning, severe flooding, severe wind or an AQI at 150 or above. With severe weather conditions, nap time might be canceled and the school day would be shortened to 1pm.
